Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a ex-chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and she was formerly an instructor of cooking. She hosts the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and is also co-hosting Worst Cooks in America. With her signature spiky blond hair and her pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides simple, easy-to-learn techniques for the at-home cook in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in several of the most prestigious eateries within New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy, and battled in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the Upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion of cooking and food from a young age. After obtaining an English and Communication degree at Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her interest in the business of restaurant by enroling in The Culinary Institute of America. The student says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every moment." I could not study or accomplish enough. Following graduation, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. In Italy the chef acquired an appreciation for and understanding of Italian food. This had an enormous effect on the way she thinks about food. Burrell was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to improve the lives of children who face difficulties. Burrell is also a Juvenile Research Foundation celebrity ambassador who promotes the awareness of juvenile diabetes. Burrell travels extensively across the nation in her capacity as both a mentor and public speaker in which she speaks about her career and love of cooking. Anne has said during her career in the kitchen she's grateful to have the opportunity to share with others what is truly important for her.
