ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born to Pamela Morgan (age 30) and Michael Morgan on July 2, 1989. Morgan was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played a variety of sports as a kid, but only began to play soccer when she was 14 years old. Following high school, Morgan joined Cypress Elite's team. They were the winners of the Coast Soccer League Under-16 championship and came in third place in their under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to refine her skills in soccer in Diamond Bar High School. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) picked Morgan as an All-American Athlete. Additionally, she was a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley. She led the California Golden Bears team's scoring during her first season. She led the team to the NCAA Tournament in four years and then to the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalists for the Honda Sports Award and the first student from her college to top the charts of Hermann Trophy finalists. Morgan completed her studies in 2010 with the third-highest amount of goals and points at Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at the collegiate and national levels throughout her time at school. During her first year on the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury which barred her from training with the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April 2008. The following season, Morgan scored her first goal for the international team during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. Morgan was also a participant at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals, and earned the team gold medals. One of these was a win goal against Italy, which earned the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player in the team and was the one to lead the team to victory over France. Morgan was the youngest player on the team, and led them to victory against Japan.
